Meet Karl Younger
A lifetime around pest control.
For Karl, pest control is not something he stumbled into. It has been part of his life since childhood.
Karl is a third generation pest controller who had his first exposure to the industry at an early age. His grandfather owned several Newcastle pest control businesses, including one that is still operating today. Later, Karl spent weekends and school holidays helping his father, Neil Younger, learning the ropes from the ground up.
What started as a young bloke tagging along with family eventually became a career built on practical experience, trust, local knowledge and a clear understanding of what good pest control should look like.
Karl’s Story
From family business to Basic Pest Solutions.
Karl grew up around pest control, helping his father Neil Younger on weekends and school holidays before moving into the family business professionally.
He began with Neil Younger Pest Control as a technician before moving into sales, building experience across both the practical and customer-facing sides of the industry.
Karl spent time on the Mid North Coast, continuing his trade with another family-run pest control business in Coffs Harbour.
Karl returned to Newcastle and stepped back into Neil Younger Pest Control, eventually moving into the role of General Manager.
Neil Younger Pest Control was acquired by a large multinational business. Karl remained part of the transition and became Operations Manager for Newcastle, helping guide one of the company’s most successful integrations.
Karl moved to Darwin, where he worked as Northern Territory Manager for another multinational pest and hygiene business.
After returning home to Newcastle, Karl took over as Newcastle Branch Manager before deciding it was time to step back from big business and make more room for family life.
Basic Pest Solutions was born: a return to straightforward, local pest control with clear advice, careful inspections and reliable service.
